Panel Discussion June 2024 at Rosenstiel Auditorium

For this fourth edition, we brought together an exciting panel to highlight the powerful advocacy of women from South Florida, from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, who are making waves in Florida and beyond. The participating speakers were: Lisa Beal, Professor of Oceanography in the Ocean Sciences department at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science; Karlisa Callwood, marine scientist educator, Nat Geo Explorer, and fisheries expert; Anya Freeman, Founder and CEO of Kind Designs; Deborah Mitchell, conservation artist and Master Naturalist; and Cyan Simmons, Ocean Conservancy Ports & Communities Liaison. The panel was moderated by Ombretta Agró Andruff, Founder and Executive Director of the ARTSail Residency and Research Initiative.

Sheroes of the Ocean Panel, Reception & International Ocean Film Festival hosted in the W South Beach Great Room.

Sheroes of the Ocean - Impact Speakers and Film Screening

On June 3, 2023, Sheroes of the Ocean highlighted inspiring women from activism, science, and the arts dedicated to preserving ocean biodiversity. A diverse panel from South Florida shared their impactful advocacy, followed by a reception and a 90-minute screening of ocean-themed films in collaboration with the International Ocean Film Festival.
